Your questions, answered.
ToxBox
What exactly is ToxBox?

ToxBox is an air filtration unit that you insert in your furnace to prevent harmful particles and bacteria from entering and circulating in your home. ToxBox replaces disposable and highly ineffective 1-inch filters and catches more harmful air contents than other household furnace filters that are widely availble. ToxBox consists of a filter frame that is permanent and two filtration pads that should be replaced every 3 months. ToxBox is CSA-approved.

How does ToxBox work?

ToxBox uses electricity to deliver charge to its glass fibre pads which act as a magnet to particles as small as  0.007 micron, preventing them from entering the air circulation in your home.

Do I actually need an electronic air filter?

If you came to this page, the answer for you is very likely yes! You are looking for ways to make the air inside your home cleaner and prevent harmful stuff from getting into the lungs of your loved ones. The better question would be “do I need a better quality air filter”? Because the filter in your furnace right now is probably not doing a great job. Disposable filters catch zero stuff that matters. More expensive pleated filters, while a few times cheaper than ToxBox, claim to catch anything sized 1 micron or larger, thus letting smaller particles (think viruses!) to pass through. ToxBox catches particles as small as 0.007 micron.

How do I know if my furnace has a filter?

Every furnace has a filter slot, usually with a filter inside already. If you have never checked, you can open the access panel on your furnace (turn off the power to the furnace before you do) and take a look inside.

Can ToxBox replace my existing throwaway filter?

As long as the filter slot is 1 inch wide, absolutely.

How do I know the correct size of the filter I need?

Simply check your existing filter for size.

ToxBox costs way more than other air filters I've seen. How is it different?

ToxBox will last you a long time. You will need to replace the pads inside it every 3 months, just like with any other air filter sold in hardware stores. The difference is that ToxBox catches way more bad stuff than other filters! To be exact, 95-98% of harmful particles sized as small as 0.007 micron, compared to 2% at 1 micron and larger caught by other filters.

Where is ToxBox sold?

You can buy it from us directly or order it at The Home Depot or Walmart online store!

Installation
How do I hook up the filter?

There is a 24 volt hookup on your ToxBox filter frame which you will need to run the filter. You can either use the adapter to plug it into a standard household outlet or wire ToxBox to your furnace directly.

I am not an electrician! Can I still do it?

Of course! Just use the adapter provided with ToxBox and plug it into one of the outlets close to your furnace. Even wiring it directly isn’t that hard. We provide instructions for it here.

Why do I have to plug it in?

ToxBox needs electricity to work. Its glass fibre pads need to be electrically charged to draw the particles in, like a magnet.

What is the direction of the air flow?

There is no direction of air flow with the Toxbox filter.

Should the LED light be on all the time?

It depends on how ToxBox is hooked up to your furnace. The light will stay on all the time if it is hooked directly to the 24 volt source. If it is hooked to the furnace fan, the light will only illuminate when the fan is running.

Maintenance
Does ToxBox need to be replaced?

The filtration system itself (the frame with the outer screens which you plug in) does NOT need to be replaced. It will last you for years and years. The pads inside the filter should be replaced every 3 months.

How do I clean the filter?

You can vacuum the outer screens or use a damp cloth to wipe the excess dust.

How often should I replace the pads?

Every 3 months.

Can I wash the pads?

We do not recommend it. The pads have to be replaced with new ones to maintain their performance.

Where do I get replacement pads?

You can order them from us directly (click here) or shop at The Home Depot or Walmart!

How do I replace the pads?

You can simply disconnect ToxBox after cutting off power to your furnace, take ToxBox out, open it up and swap the pads for new ones. Please click here for detailed instructions or watch this video

Is there a warranty?

Yes, we offer a 5-years manufacture warranty under normal use.
